@home was having nationwide DNS problems last night that they said they
would get resolved then, evidently this is not the case.
The problem they were having last night was with their
mail.{phnx,mesa,chnd}[0-9].az.home.com server. (regexp's are fun once
you learn them ;)
The DNS entries that points your mail server to mail.rdc1.az.home.com
(set this as your mail server and you'll save yourself some headache
when this happens again) suddenly vanished and hence nobody in
home.com-land could send or recieve mail.
@Home mail reliability varies from node to node, but it's really best to
avoid it entirely, which is what I do. I've heard accounts where there
are some weeks where availability is less than 50%. Set up a relay on
your own server or whatever, and you'll have one less @home-headache to
worry about.
Cox@home's tech support line (30 minutes of hold music is nice, btw) is
1.800.234.3993. Call them and give 'em hell everytime your service goes
south.
