No, not the kind of "answering machine" you hook
up to a phone. The kind that is a software/hardware
machine that you ask questions and out comes answers.
I am talking AI here. Serious domain depth.
Deep Blue beats Kasparov...and beyond.
AI has been talked about for decades. Kurtzwil
has a fairly good best-seller: Age of Spritual Machines.
Here is a new 'twist' on the topic just to inspire
some AZIPA people. A possible business model.
A e-portal (business base on advertising, click
throughs, etc), similiar to search engine portals
like Yahoo, except it ponders/answers questions +
gives explainations. (Ask Jeeves is a question based
front end for multi-search engine schene - not much
AI there.)
Cheating is allowed...ie. the system could
contract with expert consultants. It would
be especially interesting if they 'taught' the
system what it needed to know to answer the
question by itself...ie the AI expands it's
domain.
If you had a working version of this
(that was visibly improving itself every day)
Microsoft would be begging to buy you out
just as a defensive measure.
Any thoughts?
Anybody interested in building one?
